Courses
You can register for any of the following courses or workshops through the same process as registering for the conference. You are also welcome to register for one of the training courses or workshops even if you are not able to come to the conference itself. Conference delegates receive discounted rates on all pre-conference education programs and the conference audio proceedings.
The U.S. Green Building Council has approved GRHC as a registered provider, which means our programs are now eligible for LEED continuing education credits.
Those GRPs seeking education credits to retain their professional designation as well as those using AIA, ASLA, LEED, RCI or APLD credits for application toward their local/regional association or for license renewal can acquire continuing education credits (CEUs) for attending the conference and training courses (special education sessions - 1.5 CEUs/session, half day courses - 3.5 CEUs/course and full day courses - 7.5 CEUs/course).

Ecological Green Roof Design Workshop (Dec. 1)
"Most people feel connected to nature, often for reasons that can be hard to explain. Some feel a strong spiritual bond that may be rooted in our common biological ancestry. Others are inspired by its beauty. Human cultures around the world profoundly reflect our visceral attachment to the natural world. Thus cultural diversity is inextricably linked to Earth’s biodiversity." David Suzuki
In this course you will learn:
- Why Biodiversity is Important
- Advanced Green Roof Design
- Case Studies
- Sustainable Landscaping Principles
- Methods and Techniques of Urban Ecology Experience
- The Biodiversity Green Roof Design Charrette
- The Integration of Nature and Architecture

Integrated Water Management Seminar for Buildings & Sites (Dec. 1)
The goal of the Introduction to Integrated Water Management Educational Seminar, that is managed by GRHC and directed jointly by GRHC and ASIC committee members, is to leverage additional government and public awareness by providing technical and economic information on the design and performance of a fully integrated site and building water management system based on the “Net Zero Water” concept.
This approach promises to significantly reduce the consumption of potable water in buildings, reduce discharge to municipal waste water system and save on municipal energy by reducing the amount of potable water treated at municipal facilities. At the same time the Net Zero Water will develop and efficiently manage limited water resources in order to deliver truly sustainable living systems to the urban environment. The recognition of the connection between water management and energy conservation is emerging as a new opportunity in integrated management systems.
The seminar will focus on integrated water management concepts and terminology illustrated by case studies and demonstration projects to identify key issues and opportunities associated with:
- costs and benefits,
- design and engineering practices,
- installation and maintenance requirements,
- efficiency and performance of a fully functional integrated site and building water management system based on the “Net Zero Water” concept.
